Less than a month to go!
Just 25 days until the start of the 80th Birthday Celebration and we’ve still got tickets available for all the great events you can attend. This includes the almost world famous Mount Doug Idol contest on November 19th. Many alumni took advantage of the exclusive sale period, but now the general public can also buy tickets. Don’t be disappointed.
It’s your lucky week songbirds – Idol entry deadline is extended to Friday October 21st!
No matter your genre or gender, share your voice with the world – well the Mount Doug world at least! And if you really have the melodic chops, your personal star may soon become a shooting one. But act fast and don’t waste this extended chance to be discovered! Open to alumni, their children and their grandchildren only.
Relive your “glory days” athletes!
Is the mind willing but the body not so much? Nothing like a good old fashioned challenge to another group of athletes to put a spring back in your step! Get on the phone and put out the call to old teammates – you can split up your group to create “adversaries”, or challenge another year of alumni. Doesn’t matter how long it's been since you played, it's all about the fun and participation. Besides, you’ll have the rest of your life to heal your aches and bruises! So stop just watching sports and get back in the game yourself – see the website for venues and the “Athletics sign-up form”.
Fore!
Come out for what we hope will be just the first of an annual Alumni Golf Tournament – a chance for duffers and scratch golfers alike to get together for a few laughs and to raise money annually in support of future students. Electric and pull carts available to hold your beverages – clubs too! Sign up before Oct. 30th – see "Round of Golf" on the website events page.
Who knew?
Did you know that we’ve hired one of the best bands in the business to play the Homecoming Evening on November 12th? Starting at 9pm, That 70’s Band will be playing the music of all the ages – and not just the 70’s! There will also be rooms available to book for reuniting with your old classmates and teachers. Visit the website for details on this event and how to book a room. Also, a reminder that the Arts Tasting” event on November 15th has been moved to the current Mount Doug campus.
Fashion Show - Mark your calendars for Thursday, Nov. 17th!
Remember long, flowing evening dresses, pillbox hats, go-go boots, jumpsuits and doc martens? Sit back and enjoy an evening of fashions from the 1930's through to the 2011's. And you can add to the fun. Come dressed up in an outfit from your favourite decade, or stride the runway to model some of the outfits we’ve assembled! Event details available on the website - model wanabees can call 250-704-0680.
Still more events!
Visit the website for information and tickets for our other Celebration events: the Afternoon Social and “What I Did For Love”! There are also free events: the Remembrance & Tribute Ceremony and the Opening Ceremony which includes the Glorious Noise band reunion! The sports events are free for participants and spectators. See you there!.
